Sometimes, all you really need is some R&R with your best friend. Nicole and I are always planning little getaways, but Arizona was one destination we had yet to explore together. When the opportunity to visit The Scott Resort & Spa came about, we took one look online at the beautiful bar, thoughtful branding, and stunning set of pools and said, “Yup.”
The beauty of traveling to Scottsdale in the dead of summer: feeling as though you’ve got the entire place to yourself. The snow-birds have fled, school is out and you’re not fighting anyone for the best poolside chairs. We arrived fairly early in the morning and were stunned upon walking into the hotel: the whole place has an Old Havana feel, with Cuban inspired furniture, bright colors, graphic patterns and texture aplenty. The indoor bar (Canal Club) anchors the lobby and called to us immediately upon arrival (go figure).
After an order of avocado toast and a few mimosas later, we moseyed on out to one of the several pools – each of which is surrounded by palm trees + cabanas making it feel more like an exclusive tropical property than a desert oasis. We had grand plans for getting out and exploring Scottsdale but to be quite honest, all plans fell to the wayside and we let ourselves guiltlessly relax as soon as we settled into our digs by the pool.
We filled our two sun-drenched days by bouncing between the Canal Club for meals (the Ensalada Fresca with Chicken for lunch and the Crispy Skin Salmon for dinner – both to die for) and the poolside bar for drinks (margaritas and pina coladas) stepping out just once for tacos and margaritas at Diego Pops (NOM). The Scott provides beach cruisers which we road into town, but should weather not permit, they also provide a car + driver you can utilize for short trips around town.
A huge thank you to The Scott for providing this girl with two days of true R&R. We’ll be back for more of your Old Havana style, delicious food and down-to-earth staff!
